Help Us Meet the #GivingTuesday Matching Gift Challenge

In recognition of the great work Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School (BUGS) has already accomplished this year, the BUGS Board has offered a $5,000 #GivingTuesday Matching Gift Challenge. We hope you will consider supporting us on #GivingTuesday, November 27th, and show our students we CARE about BUGS. Click here to donate today!

Giving Tuesday is an international movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. It takes place right after Black Friday and Cyber Monday to remind us that there is more to the holiday season than consumerism.

“I am grateful to our friends, families and funders for helping us meet the Matching Gift Challenge. These donations help us ensure that BUGS continues to model how to take head-on the sustainability challenges of the 21st century, and engage all diverse learners to achieve their highest potential and our collective future, said Susan Tenner, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School.

Sign Up for Student-Led Subject Area Conferences! (11/28)

Hello BUGS Families,

We look forward to seeing you at Student-Led Subject Area Conference on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018. There are no classes that day but your child is required to attend the conferences with you. Please check the Gradebook in TeacherEase before you sign up and prioritize only two appointments to sign up for in order to give other families a chance. We will make every effort to stay on time, however, if you have another child for whom you will be attending conferences, please be sure to sign-up 20 to 30 minutes earlier in anticipation of delays.

Please see below for the links you can use to make your appointments with specific subject area teachers. On that Wednesday, you can meet with additional teachers if there is room in their schedule.

When you arrive at the SignUp Genius link, use the arrows at the top to scroll through tabs for each content area. You can also use the “Show More Sign Ups” menu to switch between grades.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on November 28th!

BUGS's 1st Annual Multicultural Potluck Celebration (11/29)

Dear Families,

On November 29th, during 4th and 5th period, 2:00- 4:00pm, BUGS will be hosting their 1st Annual Multicultural Potluck Celebration. Each advisory has been assigned a country to research and represent during the event. The celebration will also be filled with student performances!

On that day, we want to encourage each child to wear clothing and bring flags from a country they identify with. We are asking families to make dishes and/or send in drinks from a country of their choosing to share during the celebration. Students were sent home with a form to complete, which can also be found online via this linkPlease complete the form by no later than November 19th.

Families are encouraged to attend the event and celebrate with students and staff! It is sure to be a fun-filled event with lots of delicious international goodies!

We look forward to seeing you then.

En español:

Queridas Familias,
