Welcome to the PTA!

Every parent or guardian of a BUGS student as well as every teacher at BUGS is automatically a member of the BUGS PTA. The BUGS PTA strives to support and advocate for our children by partnering with staff, families, and the wider community to create a safe and healthy learning environment where students get excited about learning, gain confidence, and achieve their potential.

Learning Differences Parent/Caregiver Affinity Group Update

  • In partnership with Director of Inclusion & Assessments, Dan Nee, and BUGS staff, the Affinity Group is planning awareness-building activities during Neurodiversity Awareness Week this March 18-24!

  • Upcoming Affinity Group Meetings:

    • Thursday, March 14 at 7:00p

    • Thursday, April 18 at 7:00p

    • Thursday, May 23 at 7:00p

The BUGS families of students with learning differences (BFSLD) group aims to be a supportive space for parents and guardians in our community whose children have IEPs/504 plans and for those with questions about obtaining additional academic or social-emotional support for their children, with or without a diagnosis or formal plan. Our goal is to share experiences and strategies with each other and to raise awareness within our community about learning differences, neurodiversity, ADHD, and mental health. We hope to provide opportunities for families to problem-solve with each other and to collaborate with school leadership to promote inclusion and destigmatize neurodiversity. All are welcome!

BUDGET UPDATE

Your donations in action! The BUGS PTA is financially supporting:

  • Winter Dance decorations & gift card prizes

  • Frost Valley 7th Grade Science Field Trip Fees for students in need

  • Lunch for Teachers & Staff during Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Teacher Appreciation Week Thank You Gifts

  • Expert Speaker Fees for Anna Levy-Warren (Executive Functioning); Dr. Ellen Braaten (Motivating Kids); Joyce Szuflita (High School Application Process)

  • End of Year Field Trips

BUGS PTA COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

We are also looking for three 6th grade parents/caregivers who are interested in joining the PTA Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is the core leadership group for the PTA and it is helpful to have various grades and perspectives represented within it. The time and expectations are minimal and it’s a great way to participate in your school committee and be a part of planning the goals and activities of the PTA.

If you are interested email: bugspta@gmail.com
