BUGS Attendance Policies
BUGS Personal Tech/Cell phone Policy
In May 2025, a new law was enacted prohibiting students from using non-school-issued internet-enabled devices during the school day while on school grounds. BUGS has been a leader in the cell-phone-free schools movement and is updating its existing policy to align with this new law. No substantive changes to the current policy or its enactment are anticipated.
BUGS Grading Policy
The BUGS Grading policy is the guide that all teachers are expected to follow and continuously refer to in an effort to ensure equitable grading practices. The BUGS grading policy is aligned to standards-based grading and created to be used in the standards-based grading classroom. All concepts are research-based and support best practices in the classroom for both teacher and students’ success.

Complaint Procedure Policy
The BUGS Complaint Procedure outlines clear steps for parents, guardians, and other individuals or groups to address concerns, starting with informal resolution efforts and escalating to the Principal, Executive Director, and ultimately the Board of Trustees. For formal complaints under the Charter Schools Act, the procedure specifies submission to the Board of Trustees, with the option to escalate to the New York State Education Department's Board of Regents if unresolved.
